Mastodon. The Hunter. September 27th.
I’ve been a pretty big fan of Mastodon since I’ve really started listening to them a few years ago now. I’m continuously interested in how they take on different versions of metal and make them fresh and interesting. Also as I’m super biased, I love Brann Dailor’s drumming. It’s such a powerful mix of jazz and metal which makes me love it even more because they really shouldn’t go together. The way he mixes those together though along with his impeccable music timing and choices really makes it fun to listen to whatever.
I also kinda like that this is an album about nothing. Crack the Skye was great but it came along through tough emotional times for the band. This is still heavy but a little lighter in theme.
